AGATHA RUİZ DE LA PRADA
Agatha Ruiz de la Prada (Madrid, 1960) begins her professional career
in 1981 in Madrid, presenting her first women's collection at Design
Centre "Local".
In the early 80's she opens her first studio-shop at Marques de
Riscal Street, Madrid. Soon after, she begins to take part in the
Barcelona fashion week. She inaugurates an exposition of her drawings
and "hand painted outfits" which are shown in several art galleries
around Madrid.
Agatha became one of the main promoters of the "movida madrileña" ; a
social and cultural revolution which took place in Madrid in the 80's,
where many artists were featured. Since then, she has continued to
participate in an array of cultural events, such as "Thursday
gatherings" with intellectuals and artists at her Madrid studio.
In 1986 Agatha takes part in a collective fashion show in France and
begins designing accessories. One year later she comes out with a line
of bed sheets and linens. She also takes part in an exhibition under the
title "A tribute to Balenciaga".
